OUR THEMES THIS HALF TERM
Colour
Intent:
Finding out about colours and the colours we can see in the world around us.
To be aware of differences between colours.
To know we can make secondary and tertiary colours from primary colours.
Find out about the colour in the natural world.
Learn about how we use colour to communicate meaning.
Implementation:
Using pictures, videos, songs and stories of colour to prompt discussion.
Creating and playing with colour themed small worlds.
Identifying and understanding the use of colour in clothing worn through dress up and role play.
Use science exploration to investigate colour.
Creative activities to embed learning and understanding.
Outdoor activities utilising the breadth of coloured natural resources available.
Impact:
Identify primary and secondary colours.
Know the colours we might observe in the natural world.
Greater understanding of colour mixing.
Understand that colour can have meaning in the world around us, particularly with regards to safety.
Awareness that we are all unique and can have different skin colours.
LETTERS, COLOURS,FESTIVALS AND CELEBRATIONS
Please can you help support your child by bringing in items beginning with the same sound of the week and/or of the same colour of the week. The children will have the opportunity to share and discuss the items they have 'discovered' with you at home during group times with their friends. e.g For sounds of a tractor 't' or an apple for 'a'.
Please don't forget to label them with your name.
